Porsche has revived the manual 911 Carrera S as a dedicated enthusiast variant, offering North American buyers a six-speed gearbox, 473 horsepower and rear-wheel drive in a package that draws clear inspiration from the GT3 range. According to multiple reports, the car is exclusive to North America and is being positioned as an accessible, driver-focused alternative to the full GT programme.
The specification reads as a deliberate response to demand from drivers who have long argued that the 911 is at its best with three pedals and two driven wheels. The 473 hp output places it meaningfully above the standard Carrera S, and the rear-wheel-drive setup means all of that power goes through the axle the driver controls, which sharpens the feel considerably compared with all-wheel-drive variants.
Multiple reports describe the car as carrying enthusiast-focused upgrades beyond the drivetrain itself, reinforcing its junior GT3 character without requiring buyers to move up to the full GT3 or GT3 RS price bracket. Porsche has not yet published UK pricing or confirmed whether a right-hand-drive version will be offered, so British buyers should treat this for now as a North American announcement.
