Volvo plans 13 new cars by 2030 in its largest ever product push

By Anthony Sharkey, Chief Operating Officer, New Reg Limited

Volvo has announced plans to introduce 13 new models before the end of the decade, covering both electric vehicles and next-generation hybrids.

Volvo is preparing to launch 13 new cars before 2030 in what the manufacturer describes as its most ambitious product offensive to date, with the rollout already under way. According to multiple reports, the programme spans both fully electric models and the latest generation of hybrid powertrains, representing a broad shift across the brand's entire range.

Of the 13 new models planned, seven are destined for Western markets, while the remaining six will be offered in China. The split reflects the different buying patterns and regulatory pressures that Volvo faces across its two largest sales regions, and suggests the brand is tailoring its approach rather than issuing a single global line-up.

The inclusion of new-generation hybrids alongside electric vehicles marks a notable aspect of the plan. Rather than committing exclusively to battery power, Volvo appears to be keeping hybrid options available for markets and customers where full electrification is not yet practical, while still progressing its EV ambitions in parallel.

For UK drivers, the announcement signals that a significant wave of new Volvo products is due to arrive over the coming years. Buyers who are considering a Volvo but are waiting for updated technology or new body styles are likely to find more options becoming available before the decade is out, as the manufacturer works through what multiple reports describe as its biggest ever product push.
