Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has expanded its all-electric van range with a long-wheelbase version of the ID. Buzz Cargo, offering greater battery capacity and more usable load space than the standard model.
According to multiple reports, the new variant increases battery capacity to 86 kWh, a meaningful step up that is likely to appeal to operators who need to cover longer daily routes without worrying about range. The cargo volume grows to 4.4 cubic metres, giving businesses that rely on last-mile delivery or trade work more room to carry equipment and goods in a single trip.
Pricing for the long-wheelbase Cargo starts at €48,490 net, according to multiple reports. No official UK sterling pricing has been confirmed in the available information, so British fleet buyers will need to watch for a separate domestic announcement.
The launch broadens the ID. Buzz Cargo lineup, which Volkswagen has been building out as it pushes further into the electric light commercial vehicle market. For operators already considering an electric panel van, the longer-wheelbase option addresses one of the most common reservations about electric vans, namely whether a single charge can support a full working day across a range of load requirements.
