Toyota GR GT supercar sells out in the US at $220,000

Toyota's most expensive road car ever, the 641-horsepower GR GT, has already been fully allocated across the United States before a single customer car has been delivered.
Toyota's new GR GT supercar has sold out across the entire US market, with every available car pre-assigned to buyers before the model even reaches showrooms, according to multiple reports.
The GR GT carries a price of $220,000, making it the most expensive production car Toyota has ever brought to market. It produces 641 horsepower, positioning it firmly in the high-performance supercar bracket rather than anywhere near the brand's more familiar mainstream range.
Around 200 to 250 examples have been allocated for the US, and Toyota has deliberately kept that number low. Rather than opening sales to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis, the company has pre-assigned the entire allocation to customers it already knows through the GR performance community. The stated aim is to keep the cars in the hands of genuine enthusiasts and shut out buyers who intend to flip them for a quick profit. That means having the money alone is not enough to secure one: a prior connection to the GR world appears to be a prerequisite.
