Tesla Semi electric lorry confirmed for European market

Tesla has confirmed its Semi electric lorry will be sold in Europe, with specifications set to be revealed at the IAA Transportation show in Hanover.
Tesla has confirmed that its Semi electric lorry will come to European markets, bringing a high-powered, long-range heavy goods vehicle to roads that have so far seen only a limited choice of electric HGV options.
The Semi produces around 1,073bhp and offers a quoted range of approximately 325 miles, figures that place it among the most capable electric lorries announced for this market. According to multiple reports, Tesla updated the vehicle last year, giving it revised technology and a refreshed appearance that brings it visually closer to the Model Y passenger car. The European version is expected to be presented at the IAA Transportation show in Hanover, Germany, next month, where Tesla has said it will set out its European specifications and outline its launch plans.
One version of the Semi is reported to offer a range closer to 500 miles, though multiple reports suggest the UK may not receive that longer-range variant. Hauliers across Europe have remained cautious about electric lorries partly because of concerns over range, charging infrastructure and load capacity, and the figures Tesla is quoting are clearly aimed at addressing those hesitations. The brand says the Semi is more powerful, more efficient and cheaper to operate than its diesel equivalents, though full European pricing and availability details are yet to be confirmed.
For UK drivers and fleet operators watching the electric HGV market, the news marks a significant step. Electric lorries from mainstream manufacturers have been relatively scarce, and the Semi will compete with vehicles such as the Mercedes eActros and the MAN eTGX. Whether UK hauliers will be able to order the full range of variants remains to be clarified after the Hanover show.
