Suzuki e Sky: tiny electric kei car heading to UK in 2027

Suzuki is preparing to bring its lightweight electric kei car, the e Sky, to European markets including the UK, with a Japanese launch expected this autumn.
Suzuki is set to expand its electric vehicle range with the e Sky, a compact kei car that uses a deliberately small battery to keep weight to a minimum, with a European and UK arrival anticipated as early as next year following its debut in Japan this autumn.
The e Sky is described across multiple reports as Suzuki's third production electric vehicle, joining the e Vitara small SUV and the e Every kei van in the brand's growing EV line-up. The decision to keep the battery small is a deliberate engineering choice rather than a compromise, with the lighter overall mass helping to offset the reduced energy capacity and maintain a practical driving range.
Despite the modest battery size, the e Sky is reported to be capable of returning around 193 miles from a single charge, a figure that will be reassuring to urban and suburban drivers who might otherwise assume a small battery means limited usefulness. That range puts it within reach of most everyday driving patterns without requiring frequent top-ups.
The vehicle originates as a kei car, a category of small, lightweight vehicle that has long been popular in Japan due to tight urban streets and favourable tax classifications. Suzuki is apparently planning to adapt the concept for European buyers, with the UK among the markets earmarked for the launch. If the Japanese debut proceeds as reported this autumn, European availability could follow within months, according to multiple reports.
