Porsche Taycan set for discontinuation by 2030, reports claim

Multiple reports suggest Porsche plans to phase out its Taycan electric saloon by 2030, with a successor expected to sit alongside a next-generation Panamera.
Porsche is planning to discontinue the Taycan by no later than 2030, according to multiple reports citing insider sources familiar with the manufacturer's plans, though Porsche itself has neither confirmed nor denied the claim.
According to the reports, Porsche originally weighed two alternative paths before settling on a gradual phase-out: moving Taycan production from its Stuttgart facility to its Leipzig plant, where capacity had been running significantly below expectations, or ending the model immediately. The phased discontinuation by 2030 appears to have emerged as the preferred middle route, giving the brand time to manage the transition rather than making an abrupt exit.
The Taycan, which was widely regarded as a landmark moment for Porsche when it launched as the brand's first fully electric production car, has seen sales falter in recent times. A replacement model is expected to follow, with reports indicating it would join a next-generation Panamera range rather than continuing as a standalone line.
