Porsche Cayenne Electric gets 11 kW wireless charging option

Porsche has made wireless charging available for the Cayenne Electric, adding an 11 kW inductive system alongside powered doors and other new features.
The Porsche Cayenne Electric can now be ordered with wireless charging, as Porsche has made the inductive charging system commercially available in select markets after the underlying technology was already built into the car.
The system works through a charging pad embedded in the underside of the vehicle and a separate base plate installed on the ground beneath it. Power is transferred between the two components via a magnetic field, removing the need to plug in a cable each time the car is parked. According to multiple reports, the setup delivers up to 11 kW, which places it among the more capable wireless charging arrangements currently offered on a production car.
The wireless charging option arrives alongside a broader update to the Cayenne Electric. The SUV also gains powered doors, vibrating massage seats and a choice of 105 paint colours, giving buyers a considerably wider set of personalisation and convenience options than were previously on offer.
The wireless charging hardware had been present in the Cayenne Electric since launch, but the external base plate needed to complete the system was not on sale until now. That distinction matters for existing owners who may have assumed the feature was already fully functional: it was not, because without the ground-mounted pad there is nothing to charge from. Porsche has not confirmed when or whether the rollout will extend beyond its initial markets.
