Nissan Pixo returns as an electric city car for 2027

Nissan is bringing back the Pixo as a fully electric city car, positioning it squarely at drivers who spend most of their time navigating busy town and city streets. The model has been unveiled after years away from the market, and according to multiple reports it represents the brand's return to the A-segment, the smallest class of passenger cars sold in Europe.

The new Pixo shares its origins with two other electric city cars from the same wider group. Multiple reports confirm it is closely related to the Renault Twingo Electric and the new Dacia Spring, and all three models will be built at the Renault factory in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. Sharing a production line and underlying architecture with those two models suggests the Pixo is engineered for simplicity and low running costs, though Nissan has not yet spelled out the technical specification in full.

On timing, Nissan has indicated that customer deliveries are expected to get under way in early 2027. That gives buyers a reasonable planning horizon, though anyone hoping to put a figure on the monthly cost will have to wait a little longer, as pricing has not yet been announced.

The original Pixo was a compact petrol-powered car sold in the UK during the late 2000s and early 2010s, and the name will be familiar to drivers who valued affordable urban motoring at that time. Its return in electric form reflects broader trends across the European market, where several manufacturers are working to bring smaller, more accessible electric cars to drivers who find larger EVs impractical or too expensive for short daily journeys.
