Lexus RX Morizo RR: a high-performance SUV rival to the BMW X5 M

Lexus appears to be developing a performance version of the RX SUV, with multiple reports pointing to an aggressive body kit, a lowered ride height and output in the region of 600 hp.
Lexus is working on a high-performance variant of its RX SUV, according to multiple reports, with the car expected to compete directly with established rivals such as the BMW X5 M in the performance SUV segment.
The model is said to carry the Morizo RR name, a designation that links it to GR-developed performance projects within the Toyota group. Morizo is the pseudonym used by Toyota president Akio Toyoda in motorsport contexts, and the RR suffix has previously signalled the most focused performance grades within that family.
Images circulating in multiple reports show a prototype wearing a noticeably wider and more aggressive body kit than the standard RX, along with a lowered stance that suggests suspension tuning rather than a purely cosmetic exercise. The overall shape points to serious engineering intent rather than a styling package alone.
On the performance side, reports suggest output could reach around 600 hp, which would place the Morizo RR firmly alongside, or ahead of, the current BMW X5 M in straight power terms. No official figures have been confirmed by Lexus, and the car remains at prototype stage, meaning specifications and timing are still subject to change.
