Ford Mustang Mach-E gets longer range as standard for 2027

By Anthony Sharkey, Chief Operating Officer, Unison Automotive Limited

Ford has updated the Mustang Mach-E for 2027, fitting the extended-range battery across the entire lineup at no extra cost and adding a new Trail trim with lifted suspension.

Ford has made two significant changes to its Mustang Mach-E electric SUV for the 2027 model year, giving every variant in the range a larger battery as standard and introducing a new off-road-oriented trim alongside the existing lineup.

The most notable change for buyers is that the extended-range battery, which previously carried an additional cost, is now included across all Mach-E models without a price premium, according to multiple reports. In practical terms, this means that anyone choosing the 2027 car benefits from greater range than an equivalent 2026 model would have offered at the same price point.

Alongside that battery upgrade, Ford has introduced a new Trail trim to the Mach-E range. The variant features lifted suspension compared with standard models, positioning it for drivers who want a more capable ride over uneven surfaces, even if the Mach-E remains primarily a road-going vehicle.

Taken together, the changes make the 2027 Mach-E a more straightforward proposition than its predecessor. Buyers no longer need to weigh up whether an extended-range battery is worth the additional outlay, and those who want something with a more rugged character now have a dedicated trim to consider. UK pricing and availability details had not been confirmed at the time of publication.
