2027 Porsche Cayenne EV gets automatic doors at a button press

Porsche's next Cayenne electric SUV will offer power-operated doors as an option, bringing a feature previously associated with luxury marques such as Rolls-Royce to its flagship SUV.
Porsche is adding automatic door opening to the 2027 Cayenne electric SUV, making it possible for a driver or passenger to open a door with a single button press rather than pulling a handle manually. According to multiple reports, the feature brings the kind of hands-free convenience that has long been associated with the upper end of the luxury car market, and it will be available as a paid option rather than as standard equipment.
The automatic doors are not the only addition to the updated Cayenne EV's feature list. European models will also be offered with optional wireless charging, giving front-seat occupants a way to top up a compatible device without plugging in a cable, according to multiple reports.
Buyers should be aware that neither the automatic doors nor the wireless charging will come at no cost. Both features are understood to be options, meaning the base price of the Cayenne EV will not include them, and the total outlay will depend on which extras a customer chooses to add.
The 2027 Cayenne EV is aimed at drivers who want the practicality of a large SUV alongside electric power, and the optional automatic doors in particular appear designed to reinforce the car's positioning at the premium end of the market. Whether buyers consider the convenience worth the additional expenditure will likely depend on personal preference and budget.
